Nigel from "The Devil Wears Prada" once discussed fashion being one of the greatest art forms because we live our lives in it. The idea of whether fashion is art or something just utilitarian is a concept that there has been a lot of back and forth on for generations.

Artist Greg Polisseni, whose series "An Evolution of Color" recently made its debut at Foley Gallery, took the meaning of art as fashion to heart, and created an entire collection with patterns inspired by his art work.

Many of the pieces were an artistic take on more simple items. For example, Polisseni did a white denim jacket with a printed collar and sleeves.

The print he used for all his clothes was an abstract black and white based on the concept of "equality" The theme behind the collection was worker which chic meets art-on-the-nyc-streets.

In addition to the twist on casual and street inspired offerings, Polisseni also introduced a line of underwear with designs also based on his abstract art which were juxtaposed for his presentation against items like white printed coveralls and black leather jackets.

For a man who says he never would've seen himself as a fashion designer, his first collection shows that there is plenty of genius to be looking forward to from not just his art, but now his apparel as well.
