As people begin to return to work after the coronavirus pandemic and communities have been devastated by looting, Banana Republic is amping up its "Will Work for a Better Republic" initiative to donate 20 million dollars worth of clothing to those in need. Banana Republic wants to help those in need who have been unemployed and are now working on getting back to work or getting on their feet. For people lacking access to proper attire for job interviews and are currently without income, access to these resources is crucial. Unemployment in America hit 14.7 percent in April, one of the worst rates of unemployment seen since the Great Depression.

Banana Republic has partnered with Delivering Good, a nonprofit that connects retailers, manufacturers, foundations and individuals to support underprivileged Americans. Banana Republic will be donating clothes to major organizations including Hour Working Women Program in New York, Central City Neighborhood Partners in Los Angeles, and Family Focus Englewood in Chicago, in addition to various other charity organizations.

“By supporting Delivering Good, Banana Republic is helping men and women across the US, including those facing poverty, homelessness, and job loss,” said Delivering Good's president and CEO Lisa Gurwitch in a statement. “Among our network of more than 700 community partners, we will focus this donation on nonprofits with workforce training and re-entry programs and markets that have been especially affected by the current crises. This donation will have such a positive impact on men, women and disadvantaged young adults.”
