Burberry debuts new Pocket Bag

2020 still has not stopped luxury fashion brands from entering the ring for who will have the It Bags of 2020. Burberry is coming in swinging with their new Pocket Bag. The British luxury label unveiled the campaign for the bag today. The campaign stars prominent fashion model Bella Hadid.

The Pocket Bag is a new signature for the house designed by Burberry's creative director Riccardo Tisci. The structured tote takes inspiration from an archival Burberry bag. The original silhouette is reinterpreted by adding a front pocket and leather taping. Crafted in Italy, the bag is finished with contrast topstitching and hand-painted edges. The combination of leather and canvas references the brand’s equestrian heritage.

In her second campaign for Burberry, Bella is captured in a series of images and videos by photography duo Inez and Vinoodh. The campaign was styled by Katy England, with beauty done by Burberry Global Beauty Director Isamaya Ffrench and hair done by hair stylist Christiaan Houtenbos.

"For me, a lot of my creative concepts come from discovering old house codes and then creating new ones," Tisci said in a statement. "I have always loved going into the archives and that is where I found the inspiration for this Pocket Bag. For Burberry’s first ever bag campaign, I knew that I needed to give the Pocket Bag a powerful modern energy and so together with Katy, Inez and Vinoodh we developed an exciting campaign inspired by Burberry’s Animal Kingdom. Animals have always been a creative obsession and signature of mine, and it was so amazing to see Bella Hadid bring this to life as the panther. She has this fierce power and raw femininity that perfectly embodies the animal spirit."

In addition to their new handbag offerings, Burberry has also recently launched face masks. While getting people to buy luxury ready-to-wear in this economy will be challenging, face masks as a new essential are a sweet spot for sales. Accessories continue to be one of the most coveted categories for luxury brands as well, so now was a smart time to launch this handbag.
