Chanel boutique robbed in Chicago

Chanel is arguably one of the most coveted luxury brands in the world. Designer Coco Chanel's legacy was marked by her signature Chanel No. 5 perfume, use of jersey in women's wear, and of course her handbags. Not everyone thinks that getting their hands on a Chanel bag should require paying up, however.
Chicago's ABC7 Eyewitness news has reported that two young men have stolen several purses on Wednesday morning from Chicago's Magnificent Mile. The story comes just day after a police alert about thieves targeting stores selling expensive purses.
At about 10:30 a.m. yesterday morning, the two men entered the Chanel boutique, which had only been open for 30 minutes, and stole bags that were on display near the front door. According to a source, the purses could be worth a total of 15,000 dollars.

The suspects got away in a white minivan. There are no suspects in custody, and police are currently investigating the crime.
Thieves have hit four stores in the past two months near Mag Mile. Robberies have been reported in the first block of East Grand during the afternoon hours on June 27 and July 31 and in the 100 block of Eat Oak Street during the afternoon on June 30 and July 20, according to police reports.
The thieves typically work in groups of two or four.
While it is unclear what the thieves will be doing with the bags, it would make the most sense that they would be using them for profit.
The same day the bags were stolen, Chanel was also ranked by Brandwatch Analytics as the most reputable brand in the world. Chanel scored 396 points out a possible 500, edging out other luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and Dior.
This isn't the first robbery Chanel has seen this year either. Earlier this year in April, a Chanel store was robbed of several handbags as well. The following month of May, a Chanel jewelry boutique was also robbed in Paris.
The company was not immediately available for comment on what they will do to further loss prevention and anti-theft strategies.
