Learning about up-and-coming designers just got a little more fun. Covet Fashion, an interactive styling app, has teamed up with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) to release exclusive styling challenges that will showcase new and up-and-coming brands. Designers connected to the CFDA will have the opportunity to have Covet Fashion's 2.5 million users learn about their collections.

The collections will be available to be styled by users who have the app. “Mobile is the fastest-growing commercial channel right now and engaging with a brand and their product versus just passively looking at pictures is crucial,” said Blair Ethington, senior vice president of brands and marketing at Covet Fashion, to WWD.”It’s important for fashion designers to be in front of their consumers through every step of the purchasing journey.”

For a while it was looking like e-commerce was set to be the new king of the retail industry. However, with the growing business of apps like Covet Fashion, and other mobile retail apps like Spring, it seems that e-commerce might be losing its way to mobile commerce. When Ralph Lauren comes out with a new Ricky Bag with a phone charger inside of it, that's how you know mobile phones have taken over the world. The domination of the mobile device has gone far beyond people's everyday lives, and has extended well into the fashion industry.

The CFDA will have access to Covet's cornucopia of users everyday for a minimum of one hour, with products that are actually linked to the designer's e-commerce sites. It's a new revolution in fashion, and one that is sure to change the landscape for up-and-coming designers forever. The industry should be paying close attention to mobile apps, because they are the wave of the future.
