Fred by Fred Segal launches this month

Los Angeles - Fred Segal first started gaining a notable reputation in fashion for its iconic blue jeans. Now, the upscale retailer, which is known for its celebrity clientele, has moved forward and is introducing its first apparel line entitled Fred by Fred Segal.

The Los Angeles-based retailer will launch the line this month on August 15. The line will include both womenswear and menswear, ranging from 50 to 425 dollars in retail. The collection, according to WWD, will emphasize California’s culture and fashion through its pieces including cashmere sweaters, classic jeans, and t-shirts. “This line encompasses the feeling of L.A. and what it is to dress in L.A.,” Shaun Hurley, vice president and creative director of the brand, told the publication. Currently, the features more women’s clothing than men’s, but going forward the collection will start to be more balanced out. In Spring 2017, Fred by Fred Segal will introduce more clothing for both men and women for the brand.

Fred Segal so far has been successful, which is due in large part to its West Hollywood location where locals and customers come frequently off of Melrose. However, last year, Fred Segal also launched an e-commerce platform in order to expand in a more digital format. The website was launched with a theme that highlighted content by contributors and fashion moguls in the industry. The brand also stated that they would focus on building more on their social media platforms.
