One of the few luxury handbags that proves to be a true investment piece, Hermes was a highly coveted item at Leslie Hindman Auctioneers in West Palm Beach, Florida this past weekend. The auction, titled "Arm Candy: A Private Florida Collection of Luxury Accessories", saw five Hermes handbag styles go for prices between 8750 dollars and 12,500 dollars.

The bags dated from 2012 to 2013, and came in two sizes. They were also offered in an array of colors, including the limited-edition bleu galice togo and rose tyrien candy with palladium hardware square Q blindstamps. The bags were among the offerings of 142 leather bags, small leather goods, and silk scarves. The majority of which still had all their original packaging, including the boxes and dust bags.

“We deal with luxury brands all the time, but what made this collection unique was its quality and quantity,” said Anne Forman, the auction house’s director of couture, to WWD. “People are looking for durable leathers versus exotic skins, and the excitement also came from the unusual colors that you can’t buy at a store because they’re no longer available.”

Hermes bags go for four-figure price tags at Florida auction

Hindman Auctioneers was inspired to hold the event in Florida because of the vast amount of color in this particular auction offerings. Bags like the Mykonos-hued Jyspiere bag sold for 4000 dollars. The 11 Double Sens taurillon clemence, bleu electric, and Hermes orange went for between 2250 dollars and 4000 dollars.

A few Kelly bags went for upwards of 8000 dollars, and a Mini Evelyne bag, once considered an It bag originally valued between 400 and 600 dollars, went for upwards of 2000 dollars.

This auction showcased the power of Hermes bags' ability to appreciate in value. The Hermes Birkin has even been declared a better investment than gold or stocks. This auction proved that people are willing to pay top dollar for Hermes bags beyond their original cost, so for anyone seeking their next investment bag, Hermes seems like the most long-term profitable option.
