The Met Gala is on the 4th of May, and already everyone is trying to find a way to capitalize on the buzz. Barneys has found their way in the form of designer Huishan Zhang. The theme for this year's Met Gala is "China: Through the Looking Glass", so, Barneys saw it fitting to bring in a talented and gifted Chinese designer to create a one-of-a-kind collection.

While Zhang proudly wears his Chinese heritage, he is actually a London-based designer, so, he's no stranger to designing for the modern city girl. When he landed in NYC on Tuesday, however, that was his first time in the U.S. Zhang used his signature East-meets-West aesthetic to create a five piece collection, which ranges in price from 2495 dollars to 7800 dollars. Some of the looks include a dress with lace in a figure-8 pattern, and a Swarovski crystal embellished emperor dragon on a red organza column gown.

Zhang might be London-based, but, he does hold true to the roots of his heritage and has everything made in China always. “We have this atelier where we are able to produce in China and sell to department stores like Barneys,” he said to Women's Wear Daily. He also celebrated the fact that Barneys is carrying his ready-to-wear collection for the fourth season in a row . “We are one of the first Made in China luxury brands to sit on the designer floors. That’s a very proud moment for me.”

The capsule collection will be sold in eight Barney's stores, including Barneys top two stores, their NYC flagship and Beverly Hills location. While Zhang isn't sure if he will attend the Met Gala yet, he has assured us that some of his dresses will be there. The red carpet could use a little East-meets-West inspiration, and they found the perfect man to accomplish this design task.
