Things keep looking worse for J. Crew. The company's turnaround plan has gone nowhere, they are without a CEO, and now they have lost one of the most beloved stores in their brick-and-mortar fleet. The company has announced they are closing the Liquor Store, the standalone men's concept store that opened in 2008 that was heavy on third party brands.

The store was a pioneering force in American menswear designer Todd Snyder's career. It was Snyder, the former men's chief of design at J. Crew, who worked with then-CEO Mickey Drexler and Andy Spade to create the one-of-a-kind experiential store which attracted menswear customers from all over New York. It also put the J. Crew Ludlow suit, the company's most famed suit silhouette designed by Snyder, on the map.

The store didn't even get a proper farewell, having closed its door at the end of March with the news only reported by WWD on April 9. The closing of the Liquor Store leaves J. Crew with 16 men's only concept stores.

J. Crew's sales have been declining for several years straight now. They reported a 74.4 million dollar loss in the fourth quarter of 2018. The company is also looking at other options for debt restructuring even after their debt swap scheme was approved last year. J. Crew also plans to close another 20 stores this year after closing 34 stores last year.
