For those fashion aficionados who might have some Kenneth Cole and Elie Tahari from many fashion seasons ago hanging in their closets because they just could not let go of those incredible designs they have a certain gentleman by the name of Kobi Halperin to thank. Halperin left Tahari in 2011 and went to work for Kenneth Cole in 2013 recently leaving last fall. The talented and innovative designer has announced that he will be launching his own line for the fall aptly titled after him ushering in his return to the fashion industry.

The collection will be a sportswear collection that is being mounted with the financial backing of S. Rothschild, the New York-based men’s, women’s, and children’s outerwear firm. The venture is a partnership between Halperin and Jordan Rothschild, the senior sourcing and production manager at S. Rothschild, and one of the Rothschild heirs. The beauty of Halperin’s collection is that he isn’t just trying to target one type of woman either. He is creating a collection for all women, describing the woman he is designing for as “ageless.”

After departing from Kenneth Cole the fashion world wondered when they would see Halperin again. Given that the fashion industry has been playing designer musical chairs this year with designers stepping down and getting replaced left and right it seemed like just a matter of time before Halperin would eventually make a triumphant return. No one was expecting him to make a return with his own label, however, but, everyone is very excited that he has.

Halperin to launch his own namesake label

While Halperin is a great designer, he is also a great business man as well. He’s already arranged to work with several factories in Asia to get his collection in stores. As for the stores that he is eyeing to carry his namesake collection the short but impressive list includes Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman. By the list of department stores and his resumé history it’s obvious that this collection will also be at a luxury price point, though nothing too extravagant, with dresses and jumpsuits ranging in price from 120 dollars to 180 dollars, blouses, sweaters, pants, and skirts ranging from 90 dollars to 180 dollars, jackets ranging from 160 dollars to 250 dollars, and leather, furs, and coats from 350 dollars to 550 dollars.

Halperin realizes where his lady is coming from, a lady looking for something more upscale, but not quite the most ostentatious of luxury. This is even reflected in his fabric choices for the season, which include silk georgette, tropical wool, luxe twill, lace, leather, fur, and jersey. The silk georgette blouses are probably the biggest highlight of the collection and one of the staples that Halperin dedicated a majority of his time to. He went as far as to softly drape some of the blouses, and others were given their own exclusive print.

The collection also has its array of the usual staples, including everything from pajama pants, to pencil skirts, and leather vests with studded details. Halperin’s time away from the design world was only briefly, and he clearly has not lost his penchant for great women’s wear even for a second. Looks from the collection are already available for viewing, and they have been causing quite the buzz around the internet. Customers can start getting their wallets ready if they wish, because Halperin’s fall 2015 collection is slated to hit stores this August, and is sure to be a best seller in every department store that carries it. The fashion world has welcomed him back, and this time it looks like he is here to stay for good.
