Manolo Blahnik will be honored the day before NYFW by the Museum at FIT. Blahnik will be presented with the 2015 Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion. The Couture Council of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology will present Blahnik his award on September 9 at a luncheon in Lincoln Center's David H. Koch theater.

After forty years as a master shoemaker, Blahnik has also delved into the world of accessories, launching a collection of clutches inspired by his stylish heels. Blahnik described the announcement that he'd be receiving the prestigious honor from FIT as "one of the greatest accolade of my life." The constant references to his luxurious heels on the HBO hit series "Sex and the City" helped Blahnik to become a household name in America, and made his heels coveted by Manhattan's most fashion obsessed women.

Blahnik went on to elaborate on how honored he felt saying, "I very much admire the Couture Council’s invaluable support of The Museum at FIT. It is imperative that we cultivate the culture of fashion and continue educating about design and artisanship. The museum does just that and in very clever and innovative ways.”
