While other music stars and actors are running around picking out the scent they want for their next fragrance, rapper Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson has decided to stray away from the fragrance route, and has also opted not to go for a full on line of apparel the way other hip-hop stars like Jay-Z and P. Diddy have done. Instead, the rapper and actor has decided that he was going for the original gold by collaborating with Frigo to launch a line of underwear.
Frigo is a men's underwear brand that was founded by Mathias Ingvarsson, the former president and European director of mattress brand Tempur-Pedic. Jackson's line will be titled Frigo Crown designed by 50, and will be priced at 100 dollars. The collaboration with also include a line of t-shirts.
"My inspiration for this line came from the idea of the hierarchy of living, which is why you will see the crown as a constant throughout the designs,” said Jackson to Women's Wear Daily. Jackson is one of several other investors for the brand, along with basketball star Carmelo Anthony, retired baseball player Derek Jeter, and legendary music producer Timothy "Timbaland" Mosbey. Frigo was launched in 2013, and is sold at Neiman Marcus, Lord & Taylor, and Freshpair.com.
For Ingvarsson, collaborating with 50 Cent was a dream come true. “50 is a dream partner for Frigo, and we couldn’t be happier that he is designing his own line. He is amazingly creative and his attention to detail is immaculate, which will be transparent in his collection,” Ingvarsson was quoted saying in Women's Wear Daily.
