Roxy, like many fashion brands nowadays, is going the environmentally friendly route, debuting a new eco-fabricated POP Surf Collection. Sustainably minded and fashion forward, cutting edge materials and technologies are the focus of this collection with the aim of leaving the planet better than how it was found. The 2019 POP Surf collection is a partner of the Surfrider Foundation, an environmental not-for-profit organization that aims to defend the ocean and the coastline waves in a sustainable manner.

The new POP Surf collection is made from sustainable techno-fabrics including nylon made from 100 percent regenerated polyamide. Roxy’s sustainable Lycra is also made twice as resistant to chlorine, suntan cream and oils.

Wetsuits are a major part of the collection too. The brand has adopted a new water-based glue which eliminates toxic solvents that harm the environment. Black wetsuit dyeing has been reviewed to involve dope-dye yarn, a process that cuts down water and waste, saves energy and adds extra pop to your surf gear. Roxy wetsuits feature both neoprene made from 100 percent limestone and polyester made from recycled plastic bottles. This process keeps plastic out of the oceans and reduces material consumption as well.

As more studies are showing that consumers, particularly millennial consumers, want to shop more sustainably, fashion companies are adapting accordingly in order to ensure customer retention and new customer engagement. Swimwear is also a fast growing category in apparel, with sales expected to hit 13.4 million dollars in 2019 according to Statista.
