The CFDA is making significant changes to strengthen New York Fashion Week and elevate it as a platform for the best of American fashion.

To that end, incoming CFDA Chairman Tom Ford and the CFDA decided to restructure the week to five days and five nights going forward. Effective September 2019, NYFW will begin the evening of Friday (Sept.6 in 2019) and end the evening of Wednesday (Sept.11 in 2019).

This effort is not only for U.S. industry and talent but will also serve as the change needed to further globalize New York Fashion Week.

These dates will be reflected in the official New York Fashion Week application, which goes live on FashionCalendar.com on Wednesday, May 15.

A number of qualifiers go into the decision-making process, including but not limited to international awareness and distribution – but it always starts with talent. We will do an intense review process as we do each season.

CFDA remains committed to promoting and supporting homegrown talent while positioning New York as a destination for diversity and discovery.
