As part of their 50th anniversary, Vans is unveiling a new capsule collection inspired by their classic black-and-white checkerboard pattern.
The collection features four colorways including pink and blue. The aesthetic of the shoes was intended to be very 1970s. The checkerboard is as famous for Vans as their silhouette is, so this was the perfect collection to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
This is just the latest special collection to honor their history, however. The company has already released a collection of gold-checked slip ons and a special collection of Sk8-Hi sneakers.
Since launching in 1966, Vans has had a very rich history from being featured in the film Fast Times at Ridgemont High, to becoming a shoe favorite for skateboarders. Who can also forget their sponsorship of the Warped Tour as well, which they've backed for the last 15 years. These checkerboard shoes are just another piece in the company's rich history.
