London - Following the completion of the sale of British men's wear label Ben Sherman to US brand acquisition firm Marquee Brands last month, CEO and Creative Director Mark Maidment has decided to step down from his roles and exit the company.

Maidment, who first joined the team at Ben Sherman in 2002 and was appointed Creative Director in 2005, was in charge of the men's wear label product design and marketing. He was named company CEO in April 2013, following the exit of Pan Philippou a few months earlier. "With Mark’s honest, focused approach and respectful philosophy, he has taken Ben Sherman to the level which encompasses the brands inherent DNA and rich heritage whilst being at the forefront of the brand’s button up culture," said a company spokeswoman on his exit to Drapers.

Ben Sherman's new owners thanked Maidment for his role in helping revitalizing the brand. Marquee brands named Simon Smith, who was appointed as chief restructuring officer has be named as interim chief executives and Ben Sherman's design director Mark Williams has been promoted to creative director.
