Jean-Frederic Dufour, the CEO of Rolex SA, will now be taking on some additional responsibilities at the iconic luxury watch company. Gian Riccardo Marini, the former General Director of Rolex, will be stepping down, and Dufour will be taking on his responsibilities at the company. Dufour will officially be taking on his General Director duties on June 17.

Marini won't be stepping away from Rolex entirely, however. Being in his late 60s, he has decided to step away from the more around the clock day-to-day duties to become chairman of the firm's board of directors. It is unclear yet whether Dufour will continue on as both CEO and General Director, or if Rolex will hire someone to officially take over for Marini.

As the company behind some of the most coveted watches in the world they are sure to have many people gunning for the General Director position. If someone were to take over that position they would be faced with the challenge of helping Rolex move forward as they compete with the Apple Watch. Of course, Rolex will always retain their status as an enviable pinnacle of luxury.
