New York - It's the immortal rule of fashion: one day you're in, the next, you're out. Alessandro Cremonesi, the CEO of Jil Sander, is on his way out. Cremonesi confirmed to WWD yesterday that after seven years he has decided to take his career in a different direction.

Cremonesi says that he is "looking forward to a period of rest to coincide with the summer season." While it doesn't seem like he has any immediate plans on the horizon, after having managed a successful luxury brand that is slowly becoming a household name he should have no problem finding new job prospects. Cremonesi, during his 7 year tenure, oversaw some major changes at Jil Sander.

In 2008, when he first joined the brand, Raf Simons was in charge of designing the collections until Jil Sander herself returned briefly, which would be seceded by their current creative director Rodolfo Paglialunga. Cremonesi's duties will be passed on to chairman of board Frederic Pene in the ad interim. Cremonesi has confirmed that he is eyeing new opportunities, but, he hasn't made any decisions yet, declining to give any specifics as to his future plans.
