The tides are continuing to turn in fashion, and many of the old guards of the fashion industry are finding themselves out. Jim Gold, the president and chief merchandising officer of Neiman Marcus Group, will be departing the company after 28 years. Gold joined Neiman Marcus Group fresh out of Harvard Business School in 1991 after receiving his MBA.

He began his career as an assistant buyer and then climbed the corporate ladder at the company. During six of his 28 years he was the CEO of Neiman Marcus Group-owned Bergdorf Goodman from 2004 to 2010. Neiman Marcus is also losing its vice president Neva Hall, who will be retiring on March 15 the day Neiman Marcus' Hudson Yards store opens.

Neiman Marcus has been going through an interesting transition phase. In 2018, Neiman Marcus Group CEO Karen Katz, who remains on the company's board of directors, was replaced by current CEO Geoffrey van Raemdonck. The company is also undergoing a massive debt restructuring and is also in a legal battle over Mytheresa.com.
