Carhartt, the American work wear brand founded in 1889 known for their jackets, overalls, jeans, vests, shirts, and dungarees, has tapped Joe Monahan to be their new Senior Vice President of Sales. Monahan arrives from Nike where he spent eighteen years with his most recent role being Vice President and General Manager of Nike SPARQ Performance Training. While work wear will be a new realm for Monahan after spending 18 years focusing on athletic wear he is no stranger to overseeing sales.

In addition to Vice President and General Manager role at Nike he also held several other positions, including Vice President of North American sales. Eighteen years after he entered Nike there is no question about the company still going strong, so, he certainly looks like a man who can handle an executive sales role. Monahan originally began his career as a CPA with Moss Adam in Portland, Oregon.

In his new role Monahan will be responsible for assisting in the development and execution of the company’s new objective to improve its customer service experience through retail and distributor partners. Monahan will be working with the company’s product, marketing, and planning teams to ensure excellent customer service experience reaches across all of Carhartt’s consumer and distributor channels. He will be moving to the company’s headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan where he will report to the company’s President and Chief Operating Officer, Linda Hubbard. Monahan is sure to bring a lot for the table, but the proof will be in the revenue numbers come 2016.
