Johnstons of Elgin names new creative director

London - Luxury Scottish cashmere manufacturer Johnstons of Elgin has named Alan Scott as creative director with immediate effect.

Scott, who most recently consulted for premium brands in the UK and Paris, has more than 27 years’ top level experience in America, Italy, Japan and the UK, including being a key player in launching Donna Karan menswear.

His previous design director roles include Loro Piana, Vestimenta, Trussardi, Alan Scott Milan and Academic Programme leadership at Northumbria University, Sunderland University, and St. Martins School of Art.

Commenting on his new role, Scott said: “I feel very privileged to be appointed as the Creative Director for Johnstons of Elgin, one of the most prestigious vertical cashmere producers in the world today. I am very excited about the future of the Johnstons of Elgin brand and to develop further its well-deserved position in the luxury market.”

Johnstons of Elgin have seen strong growth in recent years and it plans to continue to expand the business across accessories, garments, home interiors and cloth, which the company says Scott will play an important role.
