Los Angeles - Vintage apparel brand ModCloth has undergone multiple staff changes this year. After changing their vice president of stores and two other executive roles; the e-tailer also just hired a new chief technology officer.

The San Francisco-based company recently hired Nicolas Genest to fulfill the role. Previously, he worked as a chief technology officer for two different companies. He worked for online retailer The RealReal and also worked at Vente-privee.com. He worked as chief technology officer for The RealReal for the past three years. Familiar with e-commerce, Genest’s experience ranges from web development, data technologies, and more. At Modcloth, Genest will report to chief executive officer Matthew Kaness. Kaness, who has been with the company since January 2015, said that Genest’s duties will include scaling new business models, as reported by Apparel News.

In his new position, Genest fills a spot that was previously held by Udi Nir. Nir held the position of chief technology officer from December 2012 to December 2014, according to Internet Retailer. His previous work in this role as well as with e-commerce companies allows for a smooth transition for ModCloth. “Nicolas is an innovator and an accomplished technology at creating revolutionary platforms that enable and quickly scale new business models,” Kaness told the publication.

ModCloth operates mainly online as a clothing retailer. In addition, the company offers shoes, accessories, handbags, and more. The company is based currently in San Francisco and was founded in 2002. Kaness took over as chief executive officer last year. Genest joins the company as a new hire in addition to Elizabeth Cooksey, who serves as the company’s vice president of stores and retail operations. The brand’s reasoning for hiring new people in these positions could be to set up the e-tailer for success while it focuses on expansion and revenue. In addition to Cooksey and Genest, ModCloth also hired two other team members so that the company could focus more on retail presence. With Genest in the mix, it may be easier for ModCloth to focus on their expansion.
