Nicolas Di Felice has been named the new artistic director of Courrèges. Di Felice succeeds Yolana Zobel who exited the fashion house earlier this year. Di Felice was previously senior women’s wear designer at Louis Vuitton under creative director Nicolas Ghesquière.

DI Felice steps into his new role on Thursday and will report to Courrèges’ CEO Adrien Da Maia. Both Di Felice and Da Maia will be in charge of rebooting Courrèges to appeal to a more modern audience. Courrèges is owned by Artémis, the holding company of French billionaire and Kering owner François Pinault.

“I’ve always dreamed of Courrèges, with its radical and enveloping universe. It is a house which means a lot to me and in which I see myself. Its simplicity, clarity, not to mention its optimism — I am honored to keep these values alive, and I hope to do so with as much passion and enthusiasm as the house’s founder,” Di Felice said in a statement.

Di Felice’s first collection for Courrèges will debut in March 2021. Di Felice was seen as the mostly likely successor to Zobel and rumors of him taking over the brand began circulating in early spring of this year.
