Bloomingdale's has plans to leave the contingent United States, and a certain collection of Islands in the Pacific have something to be happy about. The luxury department store will be opening a new location at the Ala Moana Center in Hawaii. The soon-to-be location will be an impressive 165,000-square-feet.

Bloomingdale's debut at the Ala Moana Center will actually make-up a whopping portion of the center's 650,000 overall square feet. One of their competitors, Nordstrom, will be moving into the Ewa Wing of the center which was previously occupied by Sears. Mall owner General Growth Properties Inc. paid a substantial 270 million dollars for 11 of Sears properties, with the store at Ala Moana seen as the most valuable piece of the transaction.

The Ala Moana center actually accounted for the bulk of the purchase price. The new Bloomingdale's location will be a spacious three floors and will carry their usual luxury collections as well as line's exclusive to the location. The store is also expected to feature smart fitting rooms, a charging location, and a Forty Carrots restaurant.
