Donna Karan's Urban Zen Collection has found its home at luxury department store Bergdorf Goodman.

The new 600-square-foot space features luxury sportswear, artisanal jewelry, handbags, and home decor. The artwork of Karan's late husband Stephan Weiss is also featured in the store.

“I started Donna Karan here. It’s sort of like home,” said Karan in an interview with WWD. “[At first] I wanted to sell two stores — Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus — and of course that got out of hand.”

The designer, who became famous for building Donna Karan International, stepped down DKI last June to focus on Urban Zen and her philanthropy projects. Following her departure, Donna Karan Collection went on hiatus.

Urban Zen takes over the Donna Karan Collection space at Bergdorf Goodman

The arrival of Urban Zen at Bergdorf Goodman came at the bequest of Bergdorf Goodman's president Joshua Schulman who suggested that Urban Zen take over the Donna Karan Collection space.

According to Jenny Brown, Bergdorf Goodman's buyer, the brand did 70,000 dollars their first day on the floor. Bestsellers for the brand included the "Perfect" white cotton shirt at 695 dollars; the A-line white cotton pocket shirt at 695 dollars; the sage long-sleeve cotton/linen draped neck sweater at 1095 dollars; the black stretch denim skinny pants at 795 dollars, and the tribal print silk caftan at 1995 dollars.

In addition to being sold at Bergdorf Goodman, Urban Zen is also sold at specialty stores such as Neapolitan Collections in Winnetka, Illinois, and Forty Five Ten in Dallas. The brand also has freestanding stores in New York City, Sag Harbor, and a store opening later this week at Manhasset. They are also reopening their West Hollywood California store in September.
