Diane von Furstenburg fans will have something to look forward to for the resort 2016 season. The iconic designer has signed a deal with Brown Shoe Co. for a women’s footwear collection that will launch for resort 2016. While von Furstenburg has stepped into the footwear realm before having had a previous agreement with Schwartz and Benjamin, this could be a sign that that designer is working on strengthening every aspect of her business as she prepares for a potential IPO.

“I’m very excited. This time I’m really putting my feet there. I’m really serious about it,” von Furstenberg said to Women’s Wear Daily regarding the Brown Shoe license. The founder and co-chairperson of DVF Studio was inspired to sign the deal with Brown Shoe Co. because she wanted to create “women-driven solution” shoes. She hopes that her collection will be able to fit in every facet of a woman’s life from walking to a business presentation.

“If you have to walk, you will wear one type of shoe, if you’re making a presentation and want to look elegant, it’s another kind of a shoe. It’s really from a real woman’s point of view. It’s about beautiful legs, but you have to be able to be comfortable,” von Furstenburg also said to Women’s Wear Daily. Brown Shoe Co. is a 2.6 billion dollar global enterprise, so it looks like DVF will be in good hands. Some of the brands in their portfolio include Vince, Sam Edelman, and Carlos Santana, just to name a few. Brown Shoe Co. is also the parent company of Famous Footwear and Naturalizer retail stores.

DVF’s shoe collection will fall into the high-end contemporary category with prices ranging from 150 dollars for a pair of sandals to 595 dollars for a pair of boots. The footwear will be manufactured in Italy and China. The DVF footwear brand will be housed at Brown’s shoe at 156th West 56th Street in Manhattan.

In addition to her shoe line, von Furstenburg plans to increase DVF’s accessory presence. Currently her company’s accessory offerings account for only 15 percent of the business and is primarily made up of scarves and handbags. More focus will be put on expanding jewelry, sunglass, luggage, and small leather good offerings. As she grows her already incredible enterprise these shoes look like they’ll be an excellent place to start.
