Germaine Picket might only be a name that those who are really in the fashion know recognize, but, the lovely lady has been quite the force in the fashion industry for quite some time. She spent ten years as an executive at Ralph Lauren where she worked on the brand's global retail interiors. It was her travels that actually helped inspire her to launch a lingerie collection.

While she was at a mall in Asia she realize she didn't have anything comfortable to wear to bed, and then she realized that there was a gaping hole in the women's intimates and sleepwear market. She found everything either too sexy to go to bed alone in or too frumpy, her options were either over sexualized lingerie or flannel pajamas. Her solution to this problem was GemPicket, a line of lingerie and sleepwear that is the perfect mix of both comfortable and sexy, and will give women a long wanted need.

The collection is expected to hit Journelle stores (the NYC based retailer) this July. The collection will also be made in NYC, and includes over 30 styles that includes a range of options from long sleeve empire waist night gowns, tap shorts, and matching soft bras. The line is certainly high quality as well.

The garments are made from cotton and silk sourced from Japan, and knits sourced from Italy. Due to the high quality of the garments they do come at a slightly more luxurious price point. Pieces in the collection range anywhere from 120 dollars to 275 dollars. It's virtually impossible to produce domestically and have top quality at an easily accessible price point, but the garments are sure to be worth it.

The age range Picket is targeting is very broad, as she hopes to bring in the 29 to 55 year old customer. Picket is actually self-funding the brand, and currently doesn't seem to be looking to bring any investors on board, but, the brand looks poised to do well regardless. In June, the brand will launch an e-commerce site that will sell limited edition pieces and present their resort collection which will feature plenty of colors and prints at the demand of retailers. A line like this was a long time coming, and women can praise Picket's name for giving women's lingerie and sleepwear a collection very much needed.
