Gymshark unveils debut New York flagship

British gym and fitness apparel brand Gymshark has released the first images of its New York City flagship store, set to open its doors on Saturday, December 13, which marks the brand’s biggest store in the US, following its store at Roosevelt Field shopping centre in Long Island, New York, in October.

Located at 11 Bond Street, the 13,000 square foot store spans three floors and will stock Gymshark’s range of womenswear, menswear and accessories, as well as exclusive merchandise that you will only find in New York.

Additionally, the New York City flagship will feature its 1-2-1 personal shopping service, where aspiring lifters and athletes can ensure they are kitted out in the best gear to help them achieve their fitness goals. While the third floor has a dedicated space for community activations, such as panel talks, athlete meet-and-greets, live podcasts or Q&A sessions.

The design of the store celebrates New York City’s heritage with a Liberty-green colour scheme, cash registers that take inspiration from “tills” housed in subway cars, and Gymshark x New York specially crafted pizza weight plates. There are also 3D-printed mannequins based on Gymshark athletes and members of the community, including fitness influencers and Gymshark athletes Chris Bumstead and Analis Cruz.

Mitch Healey, retail and wholesale director of North America for Gymshark, said in a statement: “In the entirety of Gymshark’s existence, two things have remained constant - the gym, naturally, and community. I don’t think any city in the world places as much importance on community quite like New York. So, when it came to opening our flagship here, we really wanted to honour that.

“The store has really been designed with two things in mind. When you walk through the door, a) you know immediately that you are in a Gymshark store and b) you feel the community vibe that this city is so famous for. We’ve done a lot of cool stuff in New York, but I’ll be honest, it’s all been leading to this.”

Gymshark has been upping its presence in New York over the past 18 months. In June 2024, the brand opened its US headquarters on Greene Street and then hosted its biggest-ever event, Lift:NY, which saw over 7,500 people taking part in a weekend of lifting and training in September. The British brand also opened its first US pop-up store in over seven years in New York City in November for the 2024 holiday season.

This year has seen the fitness and apparel brand open its first store within the Roosevelt Field shopping centre, a 4,000 square foot concept that will serve as the “blueprint for all future stores in the US,” as well as tap Dick’s Sporting Goods as its first US wholesale partner in October. The deal will see Gymshark launch in 12 Dick’s House of Sport stores across the US.
