Nike opens three-story retail front in Los Angeles

Nike, known for its motivational activewear gear, just recently opened one if its biggest shops at The Grove in Los Angeles.

The new emporium boasts over 31,000 square feet and is inside of a three-story building. The interior is meant to feature unique elements that celebrate the city and its athletes. The store will include live Nike+ Training Club workouts in the courtyard of the grove every Saturday in September to honor its opening. The inside space features a hardwood floor with gray and modernistic fixtures scattered throughout to display merchandise. There is a “We Are LA” mural that spans all three floors and is dedicated to the icons of Nike including local sports teams players such as Kobe Bryant.

Nike brings biggest space yet to The Grove

The former space was occupied previously by lifestyle brand Abercrombie & Fitch. The Nike store is an ideal location, as The Grove is one of the most popular shopping spots in Los Angeles. According to Apparel news, vice president and general manager Dennis van Oossanen said the store will will serve as a “stage for the prominent footwear company’s product launches in the Los Angeles area.” By serving space for club meet-ups and product launches, the store will be able to bring the Nike community together.

The space will offer athletic gear for sports ranging from tennis, soccer, running, basketball, and more. There will be special areas such as a “Jordan Trial Experience” area which allows customers to do basketball drills. In addition, there will be a treadmill as well as a special soccer area for athletes to test out. The idea is to bring a more fulfilling experience to Nike shoppers, allowing them to do a “test drive” when it comes to sneakers and other athletic gear.

Nike’s newest store has in-store sports experiences beyond shopping

The store will offer apparel, gear, shoes, jerseys, and more. The main focus of the store is dominated by shoes, as that is the primary focus of the Nike brand, however there are other options. The store also will offer computer screens that will allow shoppers to register to sign up for more information on goods. The information will later be transferred to the shoppers’ smartphones or tablets.

Nike is known as an authentic athletic footwear company that also designs, markets, and distributes apparel, equipment and accessories for sports and fitness activities. Nike subsidiaries include Converse Inc. and Hurley International LLC. The brand was founded in 1972 by founders Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight. Currently, the company has over 44,000 employees and over 756 retail stores globally. The company makes an estimated revenue of 25.3 billion dollars as of 2013. Nike is currently headquartered in Oregon.
