Seychelles launches luxury collection Eight Fifteen

Sometimes fashion doesn't always have to be comfortable, but, Seychelles has decided to give their customers both with their new luxury collection Eight Fifteen. The El Segundo, California based company only began shipping a few weeks ago, and already they are at eight different stores, including American Rag and Joe Brand. This month they will launch at Wink in New York City, and they are currently looking at moving into several other boutique locations.
Eight Fifteen's idea behind shoes is to deliver a stylish and comfortable shoe for the fashionable woman with wedges and chunky heels that evenly distribute a person's weight throughout the foot. The concept is that instead of switching out the comfortable shoes for the fancy ones at an event women will be able to wear more sophisticated shoes all night and day without discomfort. The collection ranges in price from 350 dollars for a pair of chunky heels to 795 dollars for over-the-knee boots.
Seychelles opted to create a brand with a new name due to the luxury price point for the shoes as not to confuse consumers who are used to purchasing their more moderately priced shoes. “If we took Seychelles and said we’re just going to take Seychelles and increase the price, double the prices, we’d lose our business," Production Director Gabriel Morales was quoted saying to Women's Wear Daily.
Eight Fifteen to bring women comfort and luxury
Eight Fifteen is also expected to have a different market than Seychelles, drawing in customers who are in their 40s, versus Seychelles which traditionally draws in customers in their 30s. Seychelles also owns the BC brand which targets customers in the 20s, and is sold at Urban Outfitters.
While Seychelles might be a 31-year-old company, this is their dive into the realm of luxury, which is already a pretty crowded field. This fall, Seychelles will also be launching Sey Collection targeted at their European customers with a selection of loafers, booties, and pumps. The luxury goods market better make some room, because Seychelles is certainly ready to take their slice of the high-end cake.
