Off of the heels of their successful test-run handbag collection, Shinola will be launching their first full-line women's handbag collection for spring 2016. The Detroit-based brand, who proudly boasts that they are "assembled in the U.S.", is sure that their lifestyle narrative will help them be successful in the women's handbag market.

Richard Lambertson, Shinola's co-design director, along with John Truex, his fellow design director, have created nine new bags for the brand. The styles include a hobo satchel, a bucket bag, a messenger bag, and a duffel bag just to name a few. The bags will arrive in stores on February 1, and will be at a price point between 395 to 995 dollars.

All the bags will be offered in regatta blue cobalt, as well as orange, navy, black, and neutral colored leathers which are sourced, tanned, and sewn in the U.S. Truex said to WWD that: “The designs have a softer edge to them; it’s not about structure or sharpness. They are clean designs, but I wouldn’t say they are simple — they’re complex in how they’re made and constructed in order to achieve a certain lightness.”

The handbag collection was heavily inspired by Shinola's watch collection, with rounded and notched metals inspired by their watches bezels and crowns.

Shinola did a soft launch of their women's handbags earlier this year when they launched two tote styles and a crossbody style. The collection sold out. Thee three styles eventually amassed a waiting list of over 500 shoppers.

Shinola looks like they are poised to have the new "It Bag."
