New York - The real question here is what took this so long? Sarah Jessica Parker and George Malkus's SJP shoe collection has found its first NYC retail partnership, and it's none other than iconic department store Bloomingdale's. Bloomingdale's will stock 29 SJP shoes at their palatial flagship store on 59th and Lexington Avenue. For those not lucky enough to be in NYC and experience the glory of Bloomingdale's massive flagship, fear not, because the shoes will also be available on bloomingdales.com.

Bloomingdale's will be pulling out all the stops for Parker as well. They already have plans for an aggressive promotional campaign including special event appearances and social media outreach. In addition, they will also be dedicating storefront windows on June 23rd for her collection. On finally getting Bloomingdale's as a retail partner, Parker proudly told WWD, "We are a New York brand and since we launched just over a year-and-a-half ago people have been asking us, ‘I’m coming to New York, where can I buy your shoes?’ Now to be able to point them in the direction of 59th and Lex is thrilling."

Parker has said that this new partnership will allow her to check in with the brand's consumers and sales staff more often. It's important as a designer to know who you are working with, and this could mean great things for SJP going forward. While you might think the woman who played iconic television fashionista Carrie Bradshaw would have one of the largest corporate fashion teams in NYC, you would be very mistaken.

The company is primarily her and Malkus, leaving Parker in every meeting, every market week, and with every sample going through her. She intends to take full advantage of the fact that she now has a store so close to home where she can really get to know her customers and find out what they want in terms of comfort, fit, and style. SJP is about to become the shoe designed with you in mind.

While no other plans for retail partnerships have been announced yet, it could be the first of many. With competing department stores like Saks and Lord & Taylor located in the city, buyers are sure to take notice, and will eventually also want to get in on a piece of SJP's pie. While SJP might be small now, they are certain to grow in the future, but, at a pace that will be to Parker's liking. For now, clear out some space in your shoe closet and get your Bloomingdale's card ready for SJP.
