Last December, Todd Snyder was acquired by American Eagle outfitters. This was a major move for the designer's career, but for a man who has become such a major figure in American men's wear, this was just a small step. Now, the designer has announced that he will be opening his first New York store this fall.

Snyder has reportedly signed a lease for 5,000 square feet at 23 East 26th Street off of Fifth Avenue in the Madison Park District of Manhattan.

“Because of the merger with American Eagle, it gave us a great opportunity to open a real store in New York, not just a pop-up,” Snyder told WWD.

Before the designer decided on this location, he searched SoHo, Bleecker Street, Upper Fifth Avenue, and Madison Avenue. The spot he ended up choosing is special to Snyder because he walks by it everyday on his way to work.

The planned concept for the store is a reminiscent of The Townhouse, a 3,000-square-foot flagship store in Tokyo in spring 2014. The Tokyo store includes a barber shop, a coffee shop/bar, a tailor, and a City Gym shop in the basement.

As for the merchandise, the store will carry all the items from his runway collections, as well as the Champion line and Snyder's Cole Haan shoe offerings. Items not previously offered in the U.S. like Snyder's collaborations with Globetrotter luggage, Macintosh trenches, John Smedley knits, and Superior Labor bags will also be available.

Aside from his Tokyo store, Snyder has three other stores in Japan with his Asian partner, Anglobal Ltd.

While no further plans for more Todd Snyder stores are in the works at this time, he hopes to open additional U.S. stores in the future.
