Uniqlo’s longstanding SoHo flagship has gotten a makeover. 15 years ago, the brand opened its first American store at 546 Broadway, and since then, it has been one of the crown gems in their brick-and-mortar portfolio. The store recently completed a renovation to bring more of a Japan in SoHo feel to the space.
The entrance level to the store now features a large glass tank running down the center separating the main floor into men’s and women’s products. The tank features displays for the LifeWear collection, emphasizing the brands basics and essentials. The tank currently also features the affordable merino wool products that have long contributed to Uniqlo’s popularity.
The store has been merchandised to put emphasis on knitwear essentials that for both men and women. Store monitors will rotate to display the brand’s current campaigns. A UT space showcases Uniqlo’s graphic T-shirts and will be swapped out for a different product weekly. A UTMachine allows shoppers to customize their own T-shirts with work from artists including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, and Keith Haring.
There is now the option for self-checkout and a flower wall for customers who want to purchase fresh flowers. The mezzanine floor will feature the company’s HeatTech products, which are the brand’s bread and butter. The second-floor features women’s and children’s products.
The SoHo flagship is one of Uniqlo’s eight stores, and the brand’s U.S. store fleet counts 47 stores nationwide. The store officially reopens on Wednesday.
