Lead Apparel Designer
Lead Apparel Designer - NIKE, Inc. - Beaverton, OR. Design Nike product through practical insights, knowledge of construction, trims, and materials to produce innovative apparel that reflect Nike design ethos and philosophies; develop concept and seasonal designs that may span across a variety of product types including lifestyle, performance, gender-fluid, knits, woven, tops, and bottoms; attend fit sessions with a discerning eye to develop premier product with a stitch-for-stitch obsession across various levels of distribution and price-point; partner across design, business, materials, and categories to ideate, present, develop, and problem-solve through every step towards commercialization; oversee wear-testing processes, managing product costs, developing concepts and mock-ups, and material development; prepare presentation materials around seasonal design narratives, toolboxes, and frameworks to communicate design-intent across styles and collections: help support teammates across various needs and share knowledge to develop talent across our team; work with cross-functional members within Nike in graphic design, color design, technical design, costing & sourcing, and product line management; build relationships with Nike product categories, innovation, and material development counterparts; and work across a number of functions all with the goal of achieving commercial-ready products on-time and on-budget. Telecommuting is available from anywhere in the U.S., except from AK, AL, AR, DE, HI, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MT, ND, NE, NH, NM, NV, OH, OK, RI, SD, VT, WV, and WY.
Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion, Materials, Graphics, Product Design, Human Body Design, or Nutrition and Food Science and four (4) years of experience in job offered or in a designer-related occupation.
Experience must include:
Storytelling and narrative creation;
Translating direction and narrative into physical products;
Creation and delivery of presentations;
Adobe Creative Suite;
Presentation tools such as Keynote or PowerPoint;
Material understanding;
Pattern understanding;
Apparel construction;
Sewing; and
Digital or 3D software such as CLO3D
