Fashion

For anyone who has ever been backstage after a fashion show, it’s not an unfamiliar sight to see a model change out of their runway looks and into their own clothes—at moments with little or nothing on at all, surrounded by photographers and others mulling about.

In line with CFDA’s Initiative for Health, Safety, and Diversity, CFDA made a major move to protect the privacy of models — we partnered with the Model Alliance, and, together, worked with IMG Fashion and Pier59 Studios to create private changing areas for models backstage.

The CFDA firmly believes that everyone in our industry deserves the right to feel safe and respected. We have zero tolerance for unsafe environments and strongly encourage everyone in the fashion industry to report abuse in the workplace.

This was an important step, and we hope it will inspire other fashion weeks around the world!
