On March 17, premium denim company Bldwn announced on its Instagram account that it would be closing its doors for the time being as a way to slow the spread of the coronavirus. However, the company no longer has plans to reopen.
According to California Apparel News, the label—which was founded as Baldwin in Kansas City, Missouri in 2009 by Matt and Emily Baldwin—has announced that will be closing down. A representative noted that the current climate of the fashion industry posed challenges for the brand, along with its peers, and its investors chose to shutter the company.
Prior to the coronavirus outbreak, the denim brand held outposts in Texas, Kansas, and California in addition to its founding location. Bldwn recently opened its flagship store in Los Angeles in August 2019.
