Social media giant Instagram recently unveiled its latest addition, Instagram Stories, a new feature which has been quickly adopted by industry influencers such as Anna Wintour.

On its blog, Instagram describes the new function as a way of letting its users "share all the moments" of their day via a visual storytelling mode (a la Snapchat). The images and videos users share using Instagram Stories remain live for 24 hours and users can share numerous images or videos together in a single story, which is shown in a slideshow format.

Although some users have voiced concerns that Instagram is merely copying the likes of Snapchat with its newest feature, the social platform remains the industry's social media channel of choice, a move which is reinforced by the Story adoption rate. Even though the feature was only launched two days ago, some of the first adopters of the latest addition include the Editor in Chief at US Vogue, Anna Wintour, Fashion Photographer Nick Knight and British Fashion Council chair Natalie Massenet, who has been sharing photos of her holiday.

Instagram has ensured users can apply standard privacy settings to their stories, giving them the choice of sharing content publicly or only with followers. The feature, which is currently available in the UK and US, will be rolled across the social media international platforms on Android and iOS over the next few weeks.
