Perry Ellis rose to fame because of his patterns and use of proportions that went against traditional men's wear. The brand also became famous for things like their suiting, but as time went on, they became viewed as an older men's brand.

Now, after the spring/summer 2017 presentation that took place on opening day of New York Fashion Week: Men's, Perry Ellis has entered a new era. NYFW: Men's has helped put them back in the public eye and in the minds of those of the younger, up and coming fashion crowd. This season, the brand really tried to court that customer, and they appear to have succeeded.

For starters, rather than traditional suiting, offerings included things like tech-cotton toppers in navy, tech-nylon track jackets, and gym suits in lapis. Rather than going for a full force athleisure look, they took casual pieces and made them more high fashion. T-shirt were done in navy and paired with gym suits, linen ombre sweaters were done in lapis, and track jackets were done in mesh with botanical prints.

While the suiting pieces were still there, they were updated to be more modern, like the tech-seersucker suit in bark and the linen suit in spruce.

This is not your dad's suit, but it's a suit for today's upwardly mobile gentleman.
