Retail

Paul Smith has made his way on down to Greenwich Village after spending over 25 years in New York's Flatiron District.

The new store will be in a temporary location at 357 Bleecker Street on January 18, while they search for a permanent store in Manhattan. The company's New York flagship store is located in Soho in the boutique district on the same strip as other luxury brands like Costume National, Hugo Boss, and Brunello Cucinelli. In addition, the company also operates a store in Williamsburg, and they recently opened a downtown Manhattan location at Brookfield Place.

The old Flatiron shop measured 1800 square feet, while the temporary location measures 1000 square feet.

Paul Smith has certainly come a long way since 1967 when he started his business in England. In 1976, the designer showed his first men's wear collection, and that was the beginning to his label becoming a global lifestyle luxury brand. Currently, his brand is wholesaled in 66 countries, along with 17 retail shops in England, and over 200 in Japan.

Last year, Smith announced that he would be consolidating his label into two lines. His store formats are expected to change to include more neon accents and raw materials, so that is something we could be expecting once he finds a new permanent location.
