Vionic Group LLC, which owns footwear brands Vionic Shoes and Vasyli Medical, is the only fashion company to appear on this year’s Great Place to Work list. Based on research conducted by management consultancy firm Gallup, the list recognizes corporations from all over the world that have invested time and resources to enhance their workplace experience. A total of 39 businesses have made the list in 2018.
”This is such an exciting milestone for us”, said Chris Gallagher, Vionic’s co-founder and CEO, in a statement. “We work hard to foster a community of growth and strong engagement, and our employees are remarkably committed to our core values”.
The 39 companies which appear on this year’s list display an average employee engagement level of 70 percent, according to Gallup. The consultancy firm said on its website that the main factor that sets the companies on the list apart from the rest is that they don’t simply promise a culture of engagement, but rather deliver on it. “Great workplace cultures treat employees as stakeholders of their future. They put their attention on concrete performance management activities, such as clarifying work expectations, getting people what they need to do their work, providing development opportunities and promoting positive coworker relationships. As a result, their employees create more and better work, stay with their organization longer and win the best customers”.
Gallup added that around 84 percent of workers around the world feel either detached or actively disengaged from the organizations they work for. “Actively disengaged” refers to employees who feel unhappy and resentful about their employers, which can potentially lead to intentional acts to harm the business.
Founded in 1979 in Australia by podiatrist Phillip Vasyli and launched in North America in 2006, Vionic is a privately-held footwear company that aims to combine biomechanics with style. Its footwear follows the latest fashion trends on the outside and feature a soft, mechanical footbed to increase support on the inside. They are sold online at the company’s website, as well as at Dillard’s, Nordstrom, Zappos, QVC and independent stores across the United States.
