The North America Brand Creative Retail Design (BCRD) team are the stewards of Retail Innovation in the biggest geography. We are creative problem solvers, combining strategy and innovation, making big ideas bigger for our consumers. We execute physical experiences that connect athletes* to the future of sport and create memories making athletes* dreams real at retail. We exist on the intersection of brand and commerce, the art and the science. This team designs holistic Nike store experiences: Store architecture, as well as permanent and seasonal storytelling, in the US and Canada by leveraging Global Brand and Retail standards. We obsess the execution of the brand offense across retail.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Nike seeks a Design Director for Retail Store Design: A visionary, who will execute and amplify consumer led retail concepts in the North America geography. A strategic, collaborative and creative team leader, who will guide a team of internal designers and external partners. Always looking to expand the possibilities of immersive environments to create design solutions that reflect Nike’s Brand standards and enhance the consumer retail experience in market. You have a track record of scaling a retail fleet, creating consumer led spaces, and interaction. You can work across several design subject areas such as Architecture, Fixtures, Materials and Digital with ease. You are passionate about sport, consumers and design, illustrate your ideas and are hands on as you lead projects to completion.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
If this is you, you will amplify, extend and execute retail environments across the NA Nike stores portfolio. This position requires a forward-thinking leader, a detail oriented architectural design minded creative, that builds creative direction for design development and generates implementation standards for consistent execution throughout projects. You will lead a team to develop the right approach for each project, factoring in the needs of the Consumer, the Brand and our Business partners. You will communicate and present design to the Sr. Design Director and create presentation materials that effectively communicate design intent, as well as produce project production files when required.
You may travel 5 – 15% of the time.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
Under the direction of the Sr. Creative Director, and in partnership with Director level peers, you will lead and develop, and execute, scalable retail solutions. This role provides leadership development and design direction to junior level designers. This role will collaborate with internal and external design teams to complete multiple projects by leveraging design processes, toolkits, retail standard and best practices to ensure the creative intent, design deliverables, timelines and budgets are met.
WHAT YOU BRING
- 8+ years brand design experience demonstrating creative sophistication in concepts and design/visual communications; includes at least 3 years of management experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in architecture or interior design, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience, and training
- Comprehensive knowledge of design processes. Advanced knowledge of computer systems. Experience with AR/VR/XR and an understanding of the potential of these technologies in creating the future of storytelling.
- Retail industry experience preferred, retail environments, concepts and programs. International experience beneficial, not required.
- Strong oral and written communications skills including meeting facilitation and presentations. Strong ability to effectively communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to senior creative team.
- Ability to sketch design ideas and visually communicate concept development thoughts ideation.
- Strong ability to develop influential and collaborative relationships across teams, functions, and geographies/global.
- Sound judgment and ability to contribute meaningfully to the determination of policy and strategy.
- Ability to motivate others, deal with ambiguity, and effectively collaborate in decision-making
- Passion for current trends in Technology, Design, Art, Interactive and Experience Design.
